Salomiyon Muhammaddovud Kayum


Salomiyon Muhammaddovud Kayum, Doctor of Philology and Professor, was born on February 12, 1967, in the Republic of Tajikistan. He graduated from high school in 1984. From 1985 to 1987, he served in the USSR Armed Forces. In 1985, he entered the Faculty of Tajik Philology at Tajik National University, graduating in 1992 with a degree in philology. He is a teacher of Tajik language and literature.

From 1992 to 1993, Muhammaddovud Salomiyon worked as a research intern in the Tajik Language Department at Tajik National University, and from 1993 to 1995, he was a full-time graduate student at the same university.

In 1995, he began teaching in the Department of Language History and Typology at Tajik National University. From 2001 to 2004, M. Salomiyon served as Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Tajik Philology. From 2004 to 2008, he served as Head of the Department of History of Language and Typology at the Tajik State Technological University. From 2008 to 2013, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Tajik Philology at the Tajik State Technological University. From 2013 to 2018, he served as Associate Professor of the Department of History of Language and Typology, and from 2018 to 2019, he was elected Head of the Department of History of Language and Typology. From 2019 to 2020, Muhammadovud Salomiyon served as Director of the Abdurrahman Jomi Institute for Education Development at the Academy of Education of Tajikistan.

From January 2020 to February 2022, by decision of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, he was appointed First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan. From 2022 to 2024, he will continue his tenure as President of the Academy of Education of Tajikistan.

M. Salomiyon is a laureate of the Ismail Somoni Prize of the Committee on Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and an Excellent Education Scholar of the Republic of Tajikistan.

He has made a significant contribution to the training of education specialists and academic staff. Under his supervision, ten doctoral students defended their dissertations and received candidate and doctoral degrees in philology. M. Salomiyon is the author of four monographs, five textbooks, and over one hundred scientific, methodological, and popular science articles.

Since May 2024, he has served as Acting Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

He is married and has four children.
